Art Advocates

The Brief:

This was my senior project. I worked and created research that fueled this branding a social media campaign. I created a logo and other elements that a brand may need while also creating Instagram content. My project is called art advocates involving Instagram and what it is like for an artist to post on social media and what they should know. The project itself was to lead up to the senior capstone exhibition.

The Secondary Research

I started by looking into different scholarly articles to get an idea of what I wanted to do. learning about Instagram as a platform for artists along with the terms of use for the platform itself.

Instagram Terms of Use

What started this project though was this statement that I took from Instagram’s terms of use. The jargon is not only difficult to understand but it also talks about anything you post they can legally use due to their terms of use.

The Primary Research

With this research I worked to ask questions to my peers getting their responses.

Mood board and Inspiration

With my mood board it was quite simple just looking at different campaigns, colors, and type. After the mood board I did keep looking at other inspiration and that is the bottom image.

The Branding

After my research I started to create the brand for art advocates. Focusing on what the brand would do and other important aspects that a brand would need.

The Terms of Use Explained

When it came to this project I also wanted to be able to explain the terms of use in words that people understand. So these are my explanations of the terms of use that I covered in my project.

The Questions

These were questions that I gave to my peers and they filled in responses as a way to learn and connect with other artists.

Along with the questions above my peers after reading about different parts of the terms of use could leave their thoughts.

The Posts

This was part one of the file with all of my Instagram posts. I took the questions that were for the exhibition and also made Instagram posts with them. This way artists can start a conversation online too.

The Second Part of the Posts

The other posts got more into the terms of use that were explained up above. It also got into the brand that I created as well. It asked questions and in the area where you have the description it talks about the post themselves.

The Layout for the Exhibition

The biggest thing for the exhibition was clear instructions on how the project was going to look up on the museums walls. So we had to create a diagram of the layout.

The Finished Product

This is how my project looked at the very end up on the wall of the museum. There was responses and writing utensils for people to leave more along with sticky notes for the cases of there not being enough room.
